Meet james armstrong

I’m a small business owner, forensic accountant, organizer of other progressive local business leaders, and a father of two young children, including one new kindergartener in Portland Public Schools. As a candidate for District 2, I will promote tangible solutions to Portland’s challenges, and work to bring effective government back to our city. I will use my experience in both business management and financial accounting to ensure our public funds are being used productively and responsibly.

My vision

We need our local leaders to focus on restoring livability to the district’s residents and small businesses. We need access to affordable housing, mental health services, substance addiction treatment, and a functioning public safety system. Our city currently has initiatives to solve these problems, and yet, the results are not appearing. Voters on both sides of the political spectrum are beginning to question whether their investments in social services are producing acceptable outcomes.

I believe in the effectiveness of good government. We need to start showing tangible progress and restore Portland to being a leader in progressive community building. As a small business owner and community leader in District 2, I want to bring my experience as a problem solver to city hall.
